  Posting Coinsurance Shares

Use

If shares for premiums/claims and costs are to be transferred to the coinsurer, or are to be requested by the coinsurers, the system posts the coinsurance shares .

The system uses a mass activity to post the coinsurance shares to the corresponding contracts for the coinsurer, where they can then be processed further for payment.

You can transfer the coinsurance shares to coinsurers after (partial) clearing of coinsurance-relevant documents ( credit procedure ), or regardless of clearing for coinsurance-relevant items ( debit procedure ).

Note Note

For the debit procedure, the system posts the complete coinsurance share. For the credit procedure, only the items that have actually been cleared are taken into account for calculation, meaning that partial clearing only leads to proportional posting of the coinsurance share.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You have made the settings for the coinsurer and for posting.

To do so, in the menu for Collections/Disbursements, choose Start of the navigation path PeriodicProcessing Next navigation step For Contract Accounts and Insurance Objects Next navigation step Coinsurance Next navigation step Settings for Posting and Identifying Coinsurance Shares. End of the navigation path

  • You have maintained the Customizing settings for coinsurance.

You can find the relevant activities in the Implementation Guide for Collections/Disbursements, under Start of the navigation path Business Transactions Next navigation step Coinsurance End of the navigation path .

Features

For the credit procedure, coinsurance shares are posted to the coinsurer if (partial) clearing has taken place on customer contracts for premiums/claims.For the debit procedure, posting takes place with the next posting run, regardless of clearing on the customer contract .

Posting Transaction

The system posts the coinsurance shares with the Posting Coinsurance Shares mass activity (VRCN). The shares to be collected or transferred are posted to the contracts for the coinsurer, according to the settings for the coinsurer.

Costs with reference to a premium/claim document are posted from the costs contract to the corresponding coinsurance contract (premium/claim), if the coinsurance-relevant document has been (partially) cleared.

The full amounts for costs without reference to a premium/claim document are posted to the appropriate coinsurance contract in the following run. The documents on the costs contracts are not cleared: The system creates credit postings that can be cleared with the corresponding receivables, using automatic clearing (FPMA), for example .

Summarization

The coinsurance shares are summarized using the following characteristics:

  • Coinsurance key

  • Transaction currency

  • Category (premium, claim, and so on)

  • Debit/Credit indicator

  • Company code

If you want finer summarization, you must include fields in the CI_COINS_COLLECT_TRANSFER customer include. You can use fields from the VVKK_COINSH table for this. You can derive these attribute at event V111.

Event V110 is available for enhancing line items.

If you want to group according to company code, the system uses the company code for the posting of coinsurance shares. If you do not want to group according to company code, the system uses the company code defined target company code in the coinsurance key. For more information, see SAP Note 1553413.

Correspondence

For every document that is posted to a coinsurance contract, the system generates correspondence for the coinsurer (correspondence type V035). Costs for premiums/claims are listed with the associated premiums/claims, costs without reference to premiums/claims are listed separately .

Reversal and Resetting Clearing for Documents

If clearing documents for premiums/claims/costs, or premium/claim documents on customer contracts, are reset or reversed, and the system has already created postings on coinsurance contracts for them, corresponding offsetting documents are created on the coinsurance contracts in the next posting run for coinsurance shares (VRCN). If premium shares have been transferred, they are returned .

Note Note

In the debit procedure, reversal of the coinsurance-relevant document means that the coinsurance shares are also returned.

End of the note.
