Background documentationTransferring Postdated Checks

In addition to the option of depositing checks with the bank, you also have the option of transferring checks to any G/L account (even in another company code). To do so, you define a short account assignment in Customizing and enter, if you wish, the e-mail address of the clerk who is to receive a mail about the transfer. You make the transfer itself in the check monitor, and enter a transfer reference as a note for the clerk.

The system forwards the transfer as a line item to General Ledger Accounting (FI-GL). The document item posted in FI-GL contains the check number in the assignment number. It also contains the transfer reference entered during the transfer in the document item text.

In Financial Accounting, you can then, for example, post an outgoing payment with transaction F-53, using the check, which was posted to an appropriate G/L account, for clearing a vendor payable.
