Assigning Objects/Classes to a ClassLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use this function to assign several objects to one class at the same time. This can substantially reduce the workload for classifying objects. The following graphic shows the assignment of three objects (bolts) to class HEX_BOLTS.

Procedure

To assign several objects to one class in the classification system:

  1. In the Classification menu, choose Start of the navigation path Assignment Next navigation step Assign objects/classes to a class. End of the navigation path

  2. Enter the name of the class and choose the class type for the classification.

    Confirm your entries. Choose Start of the navigation path Edit  Next navigation step New assignments End of the navigation path or New assignments.

    You see a dialog box, asking whether you want to assign a class or a specific object type (such as material) to the class. Select the object type you require.

  3. Enter the objects you want to assign to your class.

  4. If you want to assign values to characteristics, position the cursor on a class. Double-click on the class or object or choose Values for assignments .

  5. You see a list of the characteristics of the class/object. This list is based on the user settings you made in Start of the navigation path Extras  Next navigation step  User settings End of the navigation path , tab page Value assignment .

  6. Save your assignments.

Note

If the class you enter is part of a class hierarchy, you can choose Start of the navigation path Environment Next navigation step Class hierarchy End of the navigation path to see the other classes in the hierarchy in tree form.
