For service charge settlement in Switzerland, fuel costs are settled based on the effective consumption of fuel. In Switzerland, the calculation method according to FIFOhas established itself. For this reason, the following describes this calculation method only.
Consumption is calculated using the following formula:
Initial fuel level
+ Additions
– Removals
– Ending level (valuated based on FIFO)
= Consumption
Note
Consumption here corresponds to expense in a normal service charge settlement. This means that keeping track of fuel levels is conducted outside of Materials Management (MM), in case you are not able to use the MM component.
Fuel management takes place on the settlement unit (SU), master settlement unit, or a cost object settlement unit. At the time that the SC/HE settlement is executed, the system checks if consumption was calculated. This check takes place only in the case of and for the SU, for which a first initial fuel level was entered.
For the calculation of fuel consumption, you made the following settings:
Customizing:
Since fuel management takes place at one of the defined levels, such as the settlement unit, you defined the service charge key that is to be used for fuel management.
For each company code, you defined the posting parameters that are relevant for additions and removals of fuel, as well as for the initial fuel level.
In Customizing for Flexible Real Estate Management (RE-FX), choose
.
You configured the account determination for the flow types used and the flow type used. The system interprets the flow type
Addition
as a credit to the expense account (= settlement unit) and the flow type
Removal
as a debit on the expense account (= settlement unit). You have to make the Customizing settings with this in mind.
Master Data:
You created a settlement unit, for which you want to manage fuel, and you defined a service charge key for this settlement unit in Customizing.
A special table is available for storing data related to fuel management. This table contains all information on fuel movements. Using the following additional functions, you can ensure the availability of all fuel movement data that you need for fuel valuation at the end of the period:
This causes a posting to the balance sheet account and a transfer to the expense account with account assignment to the settlement unit.
Enter additions and removals of fuel on the settlement unit immediately after posting in FI to the settlement unit (see Managing Fuel Levels )
Enter subsequent additions and removals of fuel (see Managing Fuel Levels )
Enter ending fuel level (see Managing Fuel Levels )
Determine and valuate consumption based on FIFO, including adjustment postings for fuel levels (see Determining Fuel Consumption )
Note
The FIFO valuation method is the only one you can use.
Display or reverse fuel level adjustments that were generated when consumption was determined
Report on fuel levels (see Managing Fuel Levels ).

Activities
The table of fuel movements is assigned to the settlement unit used that contains the service charge key defined for fuel in Customizing. This settlement unit can be an ordinary settlement unit, master settlement unit, or cost object settlement unit. You can edit the values in this table manually as you would
process a settlement unit
. Or you can use the functions on the
Fuel Level
tab page of the settlement unit.
To process a settlement unit, choose
Settlement Unit
in the object overview of the RE Navigator. Or, on the
SAP Easy Access
screen, choose
.
Select the settlement unit, for which you want manage fuel, and for which you defined a service charge key in Customizing.
You can enter data on the fuel costs on the
Fuel Level
tab page.
For additional information, see Managing Fuel Levels .
After entering the fuel levels, you can determine consumption by having the system valuate the ending fuel level. To do so, on the
SAP Easy Access
screen, choose
.
For more information, see Determining Fuel Consumption .
Result
Then you can perform settlement for the fuel consumption, as determined by the ending fuel level as valuated by FIFO.
