Optional: Configuring the File Loader to Search for External FilesLocate this document in the navigation structure

You can use the file loader to index files that are stored on external servers with the help of SAP HANA, and search them using Embedded Search.

Prerequisites

You are using Embedded Search in the SAP HANA-based variant, where SAP HANA is used as the database for SAP Business Suite.

You have installed the optional file loader delivery unit on this SAP HANA.

More information: File Loader Guide for SAP HANA

Context

The file loader can be used for models that have at least one model node that is assigned the property Semantic=Content URL. This node contains one or more URLs that point to externally stored files. The file loader can index this files, which means they can be searched by Embedded Search.

For example, you can index models provided by SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) for document management.

Procedure

To be able to index external files, you first have to configure the file loader. To do this, proceed as follows:

  1. Activating the File Loader in the ABAP System
  2. Creating an HTTP Connection to the File Loader
  3. Making System-Wide Settings

Next Steps

After the initial configuration of the file loader, you can create connectors containing models that are assigned the property Semantic=Content URL.

Once you have created a connector, you have to assign a role to the technical user. More information: Generating and Assigning Roles for Technical Users

You can make specific settings for each connector, for example, adapt package sizes. More information: Making Object Type-Specific Settings
