Use

Purpose

SAP Query is used to create reports not already contained in the default. It has been designed for users with little or no knowledge of the SAP programming language ABAP.

SAP Query offers users a broad range of ways to define reporting programs and create different types of reports such as basic lists, statistics, and ranked lists.

Features

SAP Query includes the following subareas:

  • InfoSets form the basis of every query and are assembled from one or more database tables (or parts of database tables).

  • Users can use Queries and InfoSet Queries to quickly and uncomplicatedly generate classic reporting, that is, lists, statistics, and ranked lists for prepared datasets, the InfoSets.

  • User groups are used to separate different application areas from each other, and to assign the required datasets in each case.

  • For text modules of stored queries, a translation is provided for the application in different countries.

  • The QuickViewer is also available to you. This is a tool for simple but also very restricted dataset display.

To define a report, you first have to enter individual texts, such as titles, and select the fields and options which determine the report layout. In the WYSIWYG mode, you can edit the lists using Drag & Drop and various toolbars.

Caution

If you are working with copies of clients, note when copying that not all components of SAP Query automatically work in the new client or system. You need to explicitly adjust some object types to the new client using the report RSAQ_CLEANUP_QUERY_VARIANTS. More information: SAP Note 374503.

Notes on Documentation

In the SAP Query documentation, examples are used that relate to the F1S logical database. The structure of this database is described in the appendix, under The Logical Database F1S.
