Creating, Changing, and Displaying ClassesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Procedure

From the classification menu, choose Classes.

  1. Enter the class name and class type. Choose the Last processed classes pushbutton to choose one of the last 10 classes you worked on. These can also be classes that were processed with different applications.

  2. Choose one of the following processing types:

     Change Class

     Display Class

    Create class with template

  4. Start processing on the Basic Data tab:

Enter a description of your class and check the status. You can only assign objects to a class if the class has been released (see Maintaining Basic Data).

You can save your class once you have entered this data.

Processing on the other tabs in class maintenance is optional:

You can assign keywords to your class, to help you to find the class more easily using a match code.

You can assign characteristics to your class. These describe the objects that you classify in your class.

You can enter texts for your class.

You can assign documents to a class.

You can create a class to match a specific standard (for example, DIN, ISO, or ANSI).

You can specify that your class can be used as a BOM item for a configurable material.

Note

By choosing Start of the navigation path Environment Next navigation step Product Structure End of the navigation path you can, for example, display the Product Structure Browser to see which objects are assigned to the class.
