The search template of the enhanced user interface provides talent management specialists with flexible options for using search criteria as well as combinations of search criteria to search for employees.

Features

Basic Functions of Search Template
  • Search lines

    You can add and remove search lines.

    To so so, you use the plus or minus icon that is displayed next to an existing search line.

  • Placeholder

    You can use placeholders such as *.

  • Saving search queries

    You can save and reuse search queries. Note the following information:

    • Search queries are saved for each person.

    • The standard search query is not person related, it is available to all users.

      To use the standard search query, choose Reset to Standard.

Search Criteria
  • Available search criteria

    Which search criteria are available is defined in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, under Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Search Next navigation step Define Search Configurations for Enhanced User Interface End of the navigation path.

  • Empty search criteria

    The search also considers search criteria for which you enter no value or the value 0. The operators is and equals are an exception. If you use these operators, search criteria with initial values are ignored.

    Example Example

    You define the following search criteria:

    • Nameis<Empty>

    • Personnel Numberis greater than or equal to0

    All talents with the personnel number 0 or above are found. However, the search criterion Name is ignored.

  • Groups of search criteria

    You can use search criteria that comprise a group of search criteria of the same topic and have an and relationship. If you select such a group of search criteria, an additional screen area appears. Choose the pencil icon (Edit) to access a dialog box in which you can edit the search criteria for this group in combinations.

  • Note the following information about the individual selection criteria:

    • Talent assessment

      The appraisal elements of all appraisal templates that you defined in Customizing are available as search criteria. The name of the appraisal template is displayed in parentheses.

      Example Example

      You use two different appraisal templates that each contain the element Change Need. Therefore, the following search options are available:

      • Change Need (Template 1)

      • Change Need (Template 2)

    • Qualifications

      In the search, the qualifications and, if applicable, qualification groups are displayed as they are defined in the qualifications catalog (see Qualifications Catalog). However, only two hierarchy levels are depicted. If a qualifications group is on the third hierarchy level, it is also displayed on the second level.

Operators

Depending on which search criteria you use, you have different operators available.

Example Example

For the search by name you can use the operators is, starts with, and contains.

For the search by qualifications you can use the following operators:

  • equals

  • does not equal

  • is greater than

  • is less than

  • is between

  • is greater than or equal to

  • is less than or equal to

“And” and “Or” Relationships

You can use and or or relationships to link multiple search criteria. You have the following options:

  • And relationship

    Different search criteria have and relationships.

    Example Example

    You define the following search criteria:

    • PerformanceisVery Good

    • Talent GroupisTop Talents

    All talents that fulfill both criteria are found.

  • Or relationship

    To link search criteria with an or relationship, select the same search criterion multiple times.

    Example Example

    You define the following search criteria:

    • Talent GroupisHigh Potentials

    • Talent GroupisTop Talents

    All talents that fulfill at least one of the two search criteria are found.

  • Groups of search criteria

    The search criteria of a group are linked as follows:

    • Different search criteria within a combination have and relationships.

    • Multiple combinations have and relationships.

    You use each combination to search for a related data record.

    Example Example

    1. You select the search criterion Education.

      This criterion comprises a group of search criteria.

    2. You choose Edit.

      The Edit Search Criteria: Education dialog box appears.

    3. In the dialog box, proceed as follows:

      1. You define the following search criteria within the first combination:

        • Broad Field of EducationisNatural Sciences

        • DegreeisDiploma

      2. You add a second combination and define the following search criteria:

        • Place of EducationisHarvard

        • Degree LevelisDoctorate

    This finds all talents who, according to their talent profile, have a diploma in a natural sciences subject and also got their doctorate at Harvard.

  • Search by qualifications

    If you use qualifications as search criteria, an additional screen area appears. Choose the pencil icon (Edit) to access a dialog box in which you can select the qualifications from the qualifications catalog, using qualification groups if required. All selected search criteria have and relationships.

    Example Example

    1. You select the search criterion Qualifications.

    2. You choose Edit.

      The Edit Search Criteria: Qualifications dialog box appears.

    3. In the dialog box, proceed as follows:

      1. You define the following search criteria in the first search row:

        Qualification Group

        Proficiency

        Language Skills

        English

        equals

        Very Good

      2. You add a second search row and define the following search criteria:

        Qualification Group

        Qualification

    All talents that have specified a very good proficiency in English and at least a basic knowledge of French in their qualifications profile are found.
