Reference Services or LayersLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Reference layers are provided by external GIS services and contain geometries and specified attributes, for example, a layer showing the zip code boundaries, a layer showing regional unemployment rates in the United States of America, and so on. You use this node to define all the services for your reference layers. You then use these definitions to build reference layer groups.

A GIS service can have multiple layers. There are three types of GIS services that are currently supported by SAP Geographical Enablement Framework: Feature, Tiled, and Dynamic GIS services that are made available through the dropdown list.

You can enter all relevant information as well as configure security tokens depending on whether a Service requires authentication.

The following section provides detailed explanations of all the fields and options that you'll need to define:

  • Reference Layer ID: Enter a unique ID for reference layer

  • GIS Service Type: Choose one of the following:

    • Feature

    • Tiled

    • Dynamic

  • Map Server ID: Enter ID of the map Server you have previously defined, which you can choose from the dropdown list.

  • Service Path: Enter URL path to the reference map service

  • Security Token: Only required for services that need authentication (Optional)

  • Description: Enter a meaningful description of the reference service or layer
