  Automatic Filling of the Update Determination Table

The Pendulum List Indirect Sales searches in SAP SD and in SAP MM among requests and reported sales for the first data record containing

The search criteria and

The assignment of the sales area

and copies this information into the update determination table. You can choose which combinations of search criteria the system shall copy into the update determination table.

The entry of the sales organization is sufficient for the system to determine where it has to update the sales of a particular material, even if the relevant sales report does not contain this information. In this case, the system assigns the sales area automatically.

To search, the system proceeds according to the following logic:

The system starts by determining the assigned sales area at the level of the sales organization, the wholesaler number, the object number, the customer number, the material number. If the system does not find a sales area under the determined key combination, it searches without material number (shortened key). If the search does not yield a result, the system searches without customer number, and so on. If the system does not find an assignment it issues an error message.

For the processing of mass data, the access times to the database become more and more important to the speed of the program run as the dataset increases. To optimize the access times to the database, the information given in the sales reports should be as complete as possible so that the system only has to search for a small amount of information in the update determination table.

Procedure

From the SAP Easy Access screen, choose:

Logistics ® Sales and Distribution ® Pendulum List Indirect Sales ® Utilities ® Automatic Filling of Update Determination

The Auto. Filling of the Update Determination Table Basis Header Data screen appears.

Enter a sales organization.

You can flag different levels at which the update table shall generate the data. Multiple assignments at different levels are permitted.

Flag the required levels.

If you set the Simulation indicator on the initial screen, you can simulate the automatic filling of the update determination table. When you execute a simulation, the system lists the different assignments at the levels you have flagged without actually making changes to the update determination table.

Choose Execute .

The system lists the different assignments at the levels you have flagged.

Result

The system automatically copies the first sales area assignment that it finds according to your specifications into the update determination table if the table does not yet contain these assignments, or it overwrites the existing entries with the automatically determined sales area assignment.

The system issues a log showing the generated entries.
