Customizing Location SearchLocate this document in the navigation structure

Since SAP does not provide a default location service, it needs to be configured so that it can be used to find locations from the Geometry Explorer.

You can configure the location search by completing the following steps:
  1. Start transaction SM30
  2. Enter the maintenance view name GEFV_LOCATOR
  3. Click the Maintain pushbutton, then choose New Entries to create a new location search.
  4. By design, only one location search can be defined in the system, so enter a number such as 0 for the field Locator ID.
  5. Provide a meaningful name for the name field.
  6. Choose a map Server from the available F4 help input for the field Map Server ID.
  7. Enter a service path for the field Service Path.
  8. Select a symbol path ID from the available F4 help input for the field Symbol Path ID and enter a highlight symbol for the field Highlight Symbol.
  9. Save your entry.

For details on how to customize map server and symbol path, please check the Customizing section.

For example, to configure Esri locator service with the URL https://geocode.arcgis.com/arcgis/rest/services/World/GeocodeServerInformation published on non-SAP site, you need to create an entry for the map service in the Customizing activity Configure the Map User Interface. For example:

Map Server

LOCATOR

Service Scheme

https

Map Service Port

<<empty>>

Map Service Server

geocode.arcgis.com

In the view GEFV_LOCATOR as mentioned above, you should maintain:

Locator ID

0

Name

ArcGIS Location

Map Server ID

LOCATOR

Service Path

/arcgis/rest/services/World/GeocodeServer

Symbol Path ID

<ID of your symbol path icon>

Highlight Symbol

<definition of your symbol or icon*>

Example

*Highlight symbol: PICTUREMARKER|LOCATION.PNG|16|16|0|0|0
Note This configuration example is a working configuration. You have to check with your service provider to confirm that you're allowed to use this service.
