Classification

Classification is the process of assigning objects to classes and using the characteristics of the class to assign values to these objects.

You classify objects so that you can use the classification system to search for them.

Classification is part of the classification system. Before you can classify objects, you must create classes.

There are different ways to classify objects:

• You can classify objects from the object maintenance functions, where you can assign the object to one or more classes.

Some object types can only be classified from their master record. In Customizing for the Classification System, the Class. in master rec. indicator is set for these object types.

• You can use the assignment functions in the classification menu to classify objects.

• You can assign an object to one or more classes. See: Assigning an Object to Classes
