Configuring End-to-End FederationLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

Depending on where your processes are running, you can configure an end-to-end scenario in 2 ways:

  • Local federation — takes place in your local system

  • Remote federation — across systems

Prerequisites

If you want to configure remote federation, you must maintain configurations under the Customizing Start of the navigation path Process Orchestration for In-built Processes Next navigation step Process Observer Next navigation step Federation Next navigation step Define Logical Systems for Federation End of the navigation path

Procedure

Configuring Local Federation

  1. Execute transaction Maintain Process Definition (POC_MODEL).

  2. In the navigation menu, choose Realized Process Chain Definition ID.

  3. Choose New Entries and enter a name for the realized process chain.

  4. In the navigation menu, choose Realized Process Chain Assignment.

  5. Define the master system for federation.

  6. Assign the realized process chain to the version of the process definitions that are participating in the federation.

  7. Save.

Configuring Remote Federation

  1. Execute transaction Maintain Process Definition (POC_MODEL).

  2. In the navigation menu, choose Realized Process Chain Definition ID.

  3. Choose New Entries and enter a name for the realized process chain.

  4. Copy the new realized process chain to all the systems/clients participating in the federation.

  5. Define the master system for federation.

  6. In the navigation menu, choose Integration Point Assignment.

  7. Assign an integration point to the activity participating in federation.

You can restrict the logical system for the integration point by maintaining values in the Integration Point Restrictions node.

  8. Save.
