 Archiving Empties Data

Use

The files used by the empties update can become very large in online operation. Data archiving reduces the system load and improves performance.

Note Note

You should coordinate empties data archiving with the archiving of the billing documents, since the billing documents provide basic information for the empties data.

End of the note.

Integration

You can archive empties data both in SD and in MM. In MM, standard archiving is used for archiving empties data.

Prerequisites

To use empties archiving, you first have to set up the relevant archiving objects:

  1. In the command field, enter the transaction code AOBJ.

  2. Enter the following data in the Empties area:

    • BEV1_EMBD (archiving of monthly empties stock)

    • BEV1_EMFD (archiving of empties update)

  3. Select an archiving object.

  4. In the dialog structure, choose Start of the navigation path Archiving object Next navigation step Customizing settings End of the navigation path.

  5. Specify whether or not you want the corresponding delete program to start automatically.

Default setting: The system does not start the delete program automatically. Before you start archiving, you should check whether the delete function is active.

If automatic deletion is not used, the system displays a message indicating that there are still objects to be deleted the next time you start an archiving run.

    Note Note

You have to start the corresponding delete program manually in order to avoid duplicate archiving.

    End of the note.

Features

You can use the following functions in empties archiving in SD:

  • Archive Monthly Empties Stock

  • Archive Empties Update

  • Reload Monthly Empties Stock

  • Reload Empties Update

  • Delete Reloaded Empties Records

Activities

  1. Edit the following parameters if you want to execute the Archive Monthly Empties Stock function in SD:

    • Start date

    • Spool parameters

The system generates the relevant archive files for the monthly empties stock.

  2. Edit the following parameters if you want to execute the Archive Empties Update function in SD:

    • Start date

    • Spool parameters

The system generates the relevant archive files for the empties update.

  3. Edit the following parameters if you want to execute the Reload Monthly Empties Stock function in SD:

    • Archive selection

    • Start date

    • Spool parameters

The system reloads the relevant archive files from the monthly empties stock.

  4. Edit the following parameters if you want to execute the Reload Empties Update function in SD:

    • Archive selection

    • Start date

    • Spool parameters

The system reloads the relevant archive files for the empties update.

  5. If you execute the Delete Reloaded Empties Records function in SD, the transaction deletes data records that have already been archived but have been re-imported.

    Note Note

Archived data records have the value X in the Archived field.

Note that the archiving variants include an option for performing a test run. If you activate this option, the system simulates the archiving, deletion, and reloading of the data. We recommend always checking the archiving variants before you start an archiving process.

During the actual deletion run, the system deletes all the records from the involved tables that were reloaded to the tables from the archive.

The options for reloading deleted empties records are useful if you have to reprint an old invoice or check the balance of an empties account for a date in the past, for example.

    End of the note.
