Copying Hierarchies Between Versions

You can use this function to copy hierarchies from one hierarchy version to another. You can copy organizational unit hierarchies in planning or simulation scenarios, for example.

Prerequisites

You have activated the Financials, Group Close, Restatement Monitor business function.

Features

When you copy hierarchies for a characteristic, the system fully overwrites the following data in the target hierarchy version with the data in the source hierarchy version:

For time-independent hierarchies: the nodes and end nodes of all hierarchies
For time-dependent hierarchies: the full chronological history of all changes to the nodes and end nodes of all hierarchies
In addition, for fields with the role Consolidation Unit: the attributes of the hierarchy edges (for example, periods of first consolidation and final divestiture, accounting techniques)

If you execute the report on the subordinate characteristic in a combined hierarchy (such as a unit and group hierarchy), the system also copies the hierarchies of the parent characteristic. The system then synchronizes the hierarchies in the target version to the BW system.

Activities

In the Tools view of the consolidation workbench, choose Start of the navigation path Version-Specific Settings Next navigation step Copy Hierarchies End of the navigation path .

Here you can specify the hierarchy-defining characteristic as well as the hierarchy version of the source and the target. You can also add the changes to a transport request, if required.
