Component documentationAllocation

You can use this function to distribute or assess values from a sender object to one or more receiver objects.

For example, you can use an allocation to:

  • Assess values from specific cost centers to multiple other cost centers

  • Distribute values from one consolidation unit to multiple other consolidation units

Implementation Considerations

Allocation requires an accounting data model (that is, an account model).

Integration

You can implement this component as part of the SEM-BCS and SEM-BPS subcomponents.

Features

There are two types of allocation:

  • Distribution

Distributions distribute the amounts or quantities to the receiver objects (accounts, items, or cost centers). The balance of the sender object is decreased and the balance of the receiver object is increased. The debit and credit entries for a distribution take place at the respective original account assignment. The information about the original account assignment is retained.

  • Assessment

Assessments function like distributions. However, the debit and credit entries take place at an assessment object (for example, the assessment account) instead of at the original account assignment. The information about the original account assignment is lost.

You can use document types with the following posting levels for allocation:

  • 01: Adjustments to reported financial data

  • 10: Standardizing entries

  • 20: Two-sided elimination entries

  • 30: Consolidation-group-dependent entries

Note that the posting level of the document type must be greater than or equal to the posting level of the data being allocated (selected).
