The Main Personnel Assignment infotype (0712) stores which personnel assignment of an employee in concurrent employment is to be the main personnel assignment for a particular grouping reason. The main personnel assignment depends on the grouping reason. Therefore, the grouping reason is also stored in the subtype of this infotype.

Use

The main personnel assignment is the personnel assignment that controls a process with more than one personnel assignment of an employee in concurrent employment. Different processes can have different personnel assignments as the main personnel assignment. The grouping reason for personnel assignments defines the personnel assignment of a main personnel assignment. For the grouping value of a subtype, only one main personnel assignment may exist for a period. As soon as you change the main personnel assignment, the system adjusts all linked personnel assignments.

Structure

The Main Personnel Assignment infotype comprises two subareas:

- The grouping reason, which is defined as a subtype for the Main Personnel Assignment infotype

- The detail screen, on which the main personnel assignment is assigned

The data on the detail screen is organized hierarchically by grouping reason, grouping value, period, and personnel assignments.

You can define a personnel assignment as a main personnel assignment for each period. Existing periods can be subdivided or combined in certain circumstances.

Example

Example 1: For the grouping reason Eligibility of Benefits, information on the benefit plans that apply to multiple personnel assignments is stored in the main personnel assignment.

Example 2: You want to define a main personnel assignment for national tax processing. In this case, the employee's personnel assignments are to be grouped by country. You proceed as follows:

Define the WTAX grouping reason (National Tax) for national tax processing. Assign the XMOL grouping role (Country Grouping) to the WTAX grouping reason.

Define a subtype for infotype 0712 and use the WTAX grouping reason as the subtype value (table T591A).

Make the data sharing settings. In the Infotype/Subtype Assignment - Grouping Reason view (table T582G), enter the WTAX subtype and the WTAX grouping type for infotype 0712. The grouping reason must match the subtype. Choose From Employment Start Date.
