Function documentationSearch Field (OpenSearch)

You can use the search field of SAP NetWeaver Business Client for Desktop (the SAP NetWeaver Business Client quick launch field) to search for objects of the component Personnel & Organization.

Prerequisites

You implement SAP NetWeaver Business Client for Desktop 4.0 or above and are familiar with its functions. For more information, see SAP Library and choose Start of the navigation path Introduction to Using SAP Software Next navigation step SAP NetWeaver Business Client End of the navigation path.

Features

The central search field for the component Personnel & Organization in SAP NetWeaver Business Client offers the following features:

  • Value suggest with direct navigation to the target application, such as the Personnel & Organization master data application.

  • If you do not select a default value after entering a search term, you can call a search application with functions that correspond to those of the expanded Search lane. You can continue your search operation there.

  • When the user accesses the landing page, the HCM search provider is automatically set as the default search provider (as long as it is assigned to the role the user is assigned to).

Activities

To configure the HCM search provider for the OpenSearch field, proceed as follows:

  1. In transaction PFCG, enter your customer-specific HR professional composite role and choose Edit.

  2. In the role’s Menu tab, add the folder @SEARCH@.

    Note Note

Use exactly this name so that the folder is not visible in the role’s menu structure.

    End of the note.
  3. For the folder, choose Start of the navigation path Insert Node Next navigation step Web Address or File End of the navigation path.
