Position

Definition

The position (or subledger position) is the most detailed level into which you can break down the balance sheet accounts of the subledger Treasury and Risk Management (TRL). On the positions level, the key date valuations are made and the position components are managed. The position components are adjusted using derived business transactions .

The differentiation terms of the different product groups delimit the positions. For securities positions, there are additional differentiation criteria other than the mandatory differentiations. In Customizing under Start of the navigation path Transaction Manager Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Accounting Next navigation step Settings for Position Management Next navigation step Define and Assign Valuation Classes End of the navigation path , you can specify for a specific valuation area how the securities positions are delimited.

You must assign an account assignment reference to each position. You can use this account assignment reference to control how the subledger positions are posted in the general ledger.

In the case of positions that are assigned to a hedging relationship in Hedge Management for FAM , subpositions (HM-FAM) are used.

Integration

Positions and subpositions (HM-FAM) are integrated with Risk Management as financial objects. You can use the functions of the Accounting Analyzer to evaluate the position components.
