Provisioning Systems
Automate complex provisioning activities such as system clone, copy, refresh, or rename.
Simplified System Clone, Copy, and Refresh Process Overview
System provisioning procedures are storage and/or virtualization integration dependent.
System Provisioning Concepts
This section provides an overview of the system provisioning concepts, such as clone, copy, refresh, or rename.
General Prerequisites for Provisioning Systems
Before you provision systems, ensure that the general prerequisites are met.
Cloning a System
You clone a system, to create a duplicate of an existing system with an identical system ID.
Maintaining Systems Near Zero Downtime
You clone a system near zero downtime (nZDM) to apply Support Packages with a reduced business downtime.
Copying a System
You copy a system to create a duplicate of an existing system with a different host name and a unique system ID. SAP Landscape Management creates a copy of the existing system and renames the copy.
Refreshing a System
You refresh a system to overwrite an existing target system with the latest data from a source system while maintaining the configuration.
Refreshing a Database Using Storage Volumes
You overwrite existing data on a target database with the latest data from a source database while maintaining configuration settings of your application server instances.
Refreshing a Database Using Replication
You overwrite existing data on a target database by replicating data from a source database.
Refreshing a Database Using a Backup
You restore an SAP HANA database, either by using a complete file-based database backup or by using backup data that has been written to a third-party backup tool.
Renaming a System
You rename a system to change system ID, host names, instance numbers, and mount points from the source system to the target system.
Executing Post-Copy Automation Standalone
You execute post-copy automation (PCA) standalone to carry out several configuration steps on a system that was not provisioned by SAP Landscape Management.
Monitoring a System Clone, Copy, Refresh, or Rename
Display the log of all tasks involved in cloning, copying, refreshing, or renaming your system.
