Replenishment of WM-Managed Storage Locations Using Packing Instructions You use this function if your source storage location is managed by WM, and you want to transfer components from there to the production storage location. The kanban material is brought to an interim storage bin in Warehouse Management, and transferred from there to the supply area using the kanban control cycle.
With this type of replenishment, you can also remove kanban containers from the WM-managed storage location in compliance with the packing instructions. The packing instruction specified in the control cycle is taken into account as follows for determining the HU: The packing instruction is determined using the data from the transfer requirement. The system then sorts the removable stocks in the background so that stocks with the desired packing instruction are taken into account first. These stocks are then put into the transfer order according to the requested quantity.
This function is particularly useful if you use kanban to procure material of a specific size or on a specific load carrier for a supply area.
You have performed the required settings for replenishment of storage locations managed by WM. For more information, see the "Prerequisites“ section under Replenishment of WM-Managed Storage Locations .
If you want to take account of the packing instruction for HU determination when you remove stock from the WM-managed storage location, you must have set the
HU for Kanban
indicator in the stock removal profile and assigned the profile to the storage types. You can change the stock removal profile for HUs in Customizing for
