Create a Prototype Form (Deprecated)

You can design prototype forms to collect data from your consolidation units including qualitative data that is not gathered using forms.

You use the Define Forms app to create prototype forms and change prototype form structures and attributes. These prototype forms allow you to collect data from the consolidation units using a structured layout. You define the prototype form structure using labels and input elements to identify the type of data you want to collect.

For example, you need to make amendments to the consolidation group reports but require input from the consolidation units. You can create a prototype form and send out an instance of this prototype form to each of the consolidation units. Each unit enters the requested information into the prototype form and returns the completed prototype form. You can then use the data collected in the prototype forms to make the relevant amendments to the consolidation group reports.

Saved prototype forms can be viewed and edited in the Enter Group Reporting Data app and used to gather data, where the data gathered uses amounts in the local currency.

Choose Location to Save Prototype Form

Launch the Define Forms app, select the location in the hierarchy where you want to place the prototype form, and from the Create drop-down menu, select Prototype Form.

To create a new prototype form, you must choose a location under a custom folder. You cannot create prototype forms under the Actual Reported Data folder or Consolidation of Investments folder.

Enter Name and Descriptions

Enter prototype form attributes such as name and description. Choose the language for the descriptions. The following character limits apply:
  • Name: 30 characters

  • Description: 60 characters

  • Long Description: 250 characters

You can enter more characters in these fields, however, if you do, you won't be able to save the prototype form.

Drag and Drop Prototype Form Elements

Drag and drop an element (text, label, or number) into the prototype form structure. You can place the elements in a grid row, where they are aligned from left to right. If necessary, you can rearrange the elements and delete one or all of the elements in the structure.

Format Elements

Choose each of the elements and format them using the element attributes. For example, you can change the width of an element in the prototype form using the size attribute.

Save Prototype Form

Save the prototype form. This saves the prototype form attributes, for example, name and descriptions, and the prototype form structure and elements including element attributes. You can cancel these changes to discard the draft prototype form.
