Personalization (CA-GTF-SGF-FPB) The personalization function enables you to define user-specific characteristic values needed by an iView in the portal. The values are stored separately for each user. End users define their specific selection criteria in a personalization dialog in the portal. An administrator can also define such criteria for one or more end users.
You can always personalize the default values for characteristics of any type. The following text uses the
internal order
characteristic as an example. The internal orders in a user's authorization master can be further restricted for the individual services in the portal. For example, if managers have internal orders that are only used for allocation purposes, they can suppress the display of those internal orders from their monitor by using the personalization function.
Personalization is used in the following business packages:
Business Package for Manager Self-Service (mySAP ERP)
Business Package for Business Unit Analyst
Business Package for Project Self-Service
Business Package for Maintenance Technician
Business Package for Quality Inspector
Note
The personalization IMG activities alluded to in this documentation are usually available in the Customizing of the business packages too.
The following generic applications also use personalization in the portal:
Generic key figure monitor
Launchpad
Express Planning
Personal Object Worklist
As a rule, end users carry out their personalization themselves in the portal in the iView
Personalize Data
.
However, an administrator can prepare the personalization for the end user centrally and enter personalization data. He does this in the SAP Reference IMG under . In addition to collective processing, there are further Help Functions and Business Add-Ins available to the administrator in the IMG.
The personalization framework in which the user-specific personalization data is defined, covers for one thing a structured data store, in the form of the personalization hierarchy. The personalization dialogs also play an important role. These define the relevant entry screen which is used to enter the personalization data. For additional information on the elements of the personalization framework and how they interact, see Elements of the Personalization Framework .
With SAP ECC, the personalization hierarchies and personalization dialogs are included in the delivery for the particular applications or iViews being delivered. Hence, for example, there are special personalization hierarchies and dialogs delivered with SAP ECC Financials Extension that access the delivered applications/iViews from the financials environment. You can, however, also create your own personalization hierarchies and dialogs, or else enhance the personalization hierarchies delivered. For additional information, see Adapting the Framework Components .
