Changing a Standard Layout

Prerequisites

Changes you make to a standard layout will affect other users' reports that use that standard layout.

Note Note

You should only change a standard layout if the change is required for all reports that use that standard layout. If changes are only needed for one report run or for a specific report, you should change the report parameters using the Layout functions on theChange Report: Initial Screen . For more information, see Defining Report Layouts .

End of the note.

The layout parameters are copied from the standard layout into the report layout. There is no permanent reference to the standard layout. When you create a report, the layout settings are copied from the standard layout into the report layout.

If the standard layout is changed, the layout parameters in the report are not updated automatically.

Caution Caution

Do not change the standard layout ( SAP ) that is delivered with your SAP system.

End of the caution.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Report Painter Next navigation step Report Writer Next navigation step Standard Layout Next navigation step Change End of the navigation path .

The Change Standard Layout: Initial Screen appears.

  2. In the Standard layout field, enter the name of the standard layout you want to change and choose Header .

The Change Standard Layout: Header screen appears.

  3. On this screen, you can use the additional processing functions in the table in Creating a Standard Layout , as well as the Start of the navigation path Extras Next navigation step History End of the navigation path function to display the revision history of the standard layout.

  4. Type over current values with your changes.

  5. Choose Start of the navigation path Standard layout Next navigation step Save End of the navigation path .

    Example Example

Suppose you give the report the standard layout SAP and then change the report width to 60 . Then you assign a different standard layout to the report. The report width remains at 60 , since it is a change that you made that is specific to the report.

    End of the example.

For information on transferring the settings of the standard layout to a report, see Standard Layouts .

If the standard layout is changed, the layout parameters in the report are not automatically updated. The indicator Change allwd dur exctn allows you to save any changes you make to the layout when executing the report.

Recommendation Recommendation

Select the Change allowed during execution indicator only in the report header.

End of the recommendation.

If a user has authorization to change a report, he can change this indicator in the report output with Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step report layout Next navigation step Page/control Next navigation step Change allowed during execution End of the navigation path . Another place you can change the setting of this indicator is in the report definition with Report header. If you only change the indicator Change allowed during execution in the standard layout, the change will only be effective in the report if you reassign the standard layout to the report.
