Component documentationWorkforce Viewer

SAP customers use Organization Management module of Human Capital Management (HCM) to create simple-to-complex organizational structures. To interpret and visualize these organizational structures is a challenge that employees, managers, and human resource (HR) professionals face with.

The features present in the new Workforce Viewer provide a simplified solution for representing organizational (org.) structures. The main objective is to use and display the solution within the Human Capital Management (HCM) lanes for applications such as Manager Self-Service (MSS), Personnel & Organization, and Employee Self-Service (ESS).

The solution has been conceptualized to provide an easy-to-use and aesthetically-pleasing graphical representation of different org. structures. Currently, the solution displays three different object types, organizational units (OrgUnit card), positions (position card), and employees (employee card).

For more information, see User Interface Building Blocks.

The solution currently provides the following roles based on the applications:

  • Employee

  • Manager

  • HR professional

For more information, see Roles in Workforce Viewer.

Employees, managers, or HR professionals can now intuitively navigate the organizational structure and carry out tasks more efficiently. For example, managers can select multiple employees to initiate a compare process between the selected employees.

The solution, which uses SAPUI5 technology, also has the following custom-made controls:

  • Node control – To display different object types such as employee, OrgUnit, and Position

  • Pod control – To display peers in a single row using a group of node control instance

  • Expanded pod control – To display peers in multiple rows.

Implementation Considerations

Since the Workforce Viewer solution is part of the SAP ERP Human Capital Management(HCM) lanes, the applications such as ESS, MSS, and Personnel & Organization using the Workforce Viewer solution should be implemented in the system.

For more information, see business function HCM, Workforce Viewer 01 (HCM_PD_ORGVIS_1).

To launch the Workforce Viewer, you have to maintain the settings for the launchpad in the Customizing. The entries are shipped as part of standard delivery. You can configure the standard actions in the launchpad (transaction LPD_CUST) using the following role and instance:

  • Launchpad Role: HRORGVIS

  • Launchpad Instance: NAVIGATION

For more information on Customizing, see Configure Settings for Workforce Viewer.
