Setting up a mapping table

Create, open, or modify a mapping table before setting it up. A mapping table window must be open.

To set up a mapping table, you must:

  1. Set up the name of the mapping table and the select the related mapping table class

  2. Fill in or modify the Table Instance tab and the Additional Information tab

Name: Type the unique identifier of the mapping table.

Mapping Table Class: Select the mapping table class defining the structure of the mapping table.

Setting up the rows of the mapping table

Once you have selected the mapping table class for your mapping table, you can add one or more rows to the table, and then fill in the cells of each row with appropriate values.

Note: Unlike a translation table, changing the order of rows in a mapping table has no impact on its behavior.

After adding a row, you have to set it up.

Name: Type an identifier for the row. This identifier must be unique in the mapping table.

Input Columns: Type the input values for this row. You are allowed to enter duplicate input values. In that case, the selection of a row depends on the Start Date and the End Date. Note that the number of input columns is the same as the number of input columns defined in the related mapping table class.

Start Date: Click the cell of the Start Date column to open a calendar, and then select a date.

End Date: Click the cell of the End Date column to open a calendar, and then select a date. The Start Date and the End Date define the period when the row is valid.

Note: You are not allowed to put the same input values, the same start date and the same end date for two distinct rows.

For example, an event occurs on the 20th of July with the input value A. You use the following rules to determine which row of the mapping table applies to the example .

Rule 1:  When more than one period correspond to a given input value (A) at a given date (the 20th of July), the row(s) whose start date is closest to the reference date applies. In our example, Row 1 and Row 2 are selected because their start date (July, 18th) is closer to the reference date (July, 20th) than the start date of Row 3 (July, 17th).

Rule 2:  If two rows have the same start date, the one having the shortest period applies. In our example, Row 1 applies.

 

Output Columns: Type the output values for this row. Note that the number of output columns is the same as the number of output columns defined in the related mapping table class.

Note: Instead of manually typing all of the information in the columns, you can import existing information from external .CSV type files by clicking .

Additional Information tab

Use the table and its icons to create additional information.

: Click to add a row to the table.

: Click to delete a row from the table.

Fill in each row that you add to the table:

Name: Type the name of the additional information.

Type: Provides the list of the additional information types. Select one of the following types: Number, String, or Date.

Value: Type the additional information according to the selected type.

Description: Type the description of the additional information. This description is visible from the SAP ERP system or an external provisioning system.
