About rating trial runs

Once you have built and verified a price plan or pricing macro, you can test the logic of their rating process to ensure that the correct results have been achieved. To do this, you can use the Rating Trial Run tool which is a testing tool provided with SAP Convergent Charging.

The Rating Trial Run tool allows you to manipulate and change the values of specific rates that are used in the rating process and locate the related components that do not work correctly.

When adjusting and finalizing an offer or a charge plan, the Rating Trial Run tool allows you to view the rating context in detail.

Trial run procedure

The Rating Trial Run tool tests only one rating branch at a time; therefore, the trial run procedure consists in testing each branch of the rating tree of your price plan or pricing macro. For each rating branch, the trial run procedure is split into three main steps:

  1. You need to set or change the values of the properties that are used in your price plan or pricing macro.

  2. You start the Trial Run tool. The tool uses the algorithm of the price plan or pricing macro, which is based on the values of the properties and provides a set of actual calculation results.

  3. Once you have performed a rating trial run, the results area displays the final calculated price. You can compare the calculation results with the expected test results.
