Rate components are calculation tools you use to create a price plan or a pricing macro. Together the components make up a rating tree. You use the rating tree in a price plan to calculate the amount of a charge.
Each main branch of the price plan begins with a Rate component that is linked to a rate activation method. There are three types of rate linked to three methods of activation:
|
Type of rate |
Activation |
|
|
Each usage |
|
|
Periodic |
|
|
Once only (One-Off) |
The values generated higher up a rating branch become available to all parts of the branch further toward the ends of the branch. When a property is generated on one rating branch, it cannot be used on another rating branch.
Once you have selected the price plan icon
in the rating tree display area of your charge, you can start building a rating tree.
The components of a rating tree are grouped into five families depending on their main function:
Rate components
always begin the main branches of a rating tree.
Comparator
, Splitter
and Operator
components help to calculate a rate.
Function components
end each branch of a rating tree with a final calculated amount.
