Building a simulation

Simulation Tool calculates the commercial profitability of your price plan that is based on one of the two following methods:

• Modeled consumer usage by using a modeled customer profile

• Actual usage data by using a real customer profile

Steps to build and perform a simulation

The steps are the following:

1. Define the chargeable item package that represents the service that you want to provide to your customers. This product includes chargeable item classes and properties.

2. If necessary, include shared objects such as pricing macros, translation tables, or tier tables.

3. Define the price plan for which you want to test profitability.

4. Add costs to the simulation if you want to simulate a value chain business scenario. Costs allow you to represent:

• A third party commission payment

• A payment to a supplier

• Both types of payment

5. Define the characteristics of the usage of chargeable item packages using modeled or real customer profiles. You can use usage data from SAP Convergent Charging to create real customer profiles. For example, you can import data from another software.

6. Run your simulation.

7. View the results.

8. Analyze the results in Simulation Tool. You can save and reproduce these results by using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

9. Save your simulation configuration in an XML file for future modification or simulation.
