A price plan consists of:
A tree root
One or more branches (rate components)
One or more components in each branch
The rating tree is a decision tree that shows the price plan. The tree has a root and branches for the different rates:

The root of each branch shows a rate, which can be one of several types. Rate types are linked to rate activation methods. In Simulation Tool, there are three types of rate and three methods of activation:

The rating tree can contain several rates. Each rate has its own decision tree. You can create each rating branch by using several components, which form nodes in the branch. The components are combined and applied to price plan variables to calculate the final price that is shown at the end point on the branch (the leaves of the tree).
The components (
Functions,
Comparisons,
Splitters or
Operators) are used to make calculations. The
Functions components or leaves provide the amounts to pay.
