Chargeable item classes represent how a chargeable item package will be used or consumed for rating purposes. A chargeable item package contains one or more chargeable item classes.
Actions or usage events that are described by a chargeable item class can be cost-generating or free of charge. You can describe the pricing method by configuring the properties that make up a chargeable item class.
By using an internet press service, consumers can do the following:
View articles online
Download articles
The service provider may decide to price its press service based on an action that the consumer chooses. To do this in SAP Convergent Charging, the service provider creates a “Press service” chargeable item package that contains two chargeable item classes:
Article view
Article download
A chargeable item class contains several properties that describe each usage event for rating purposes.
All the chargeable item classes contain default properties. You can however define a chargeable item class by creating your own user properties.
An Internet Press Service supplier prices article downloads according to the document size. The "Article download" chargeable item class will contain the Document Size property.
A telecommunications operator chooses to bill telephone calls according to the called number. The "Telephone Call" chargeable item class will contain the Called Number property.
Default properties provide information about the consumption of a chargeable item package for billing purposes.
In addition to default properties, you can create user properties for a chargeable item class. You define these properties by assigning the following:
Name
Type (character string, number, or date)
Description
A Press supplier charges the viewing of online articles according to article categories such as daily newspaper, weekly review, and specialist review. The chargeable item class "Viewed Article" consists of a user property defined as a character string.
