Setting up a charged item class

Create, open, or modify a charged item class before setting it up. A charged item class window must be open.

A charged item class is graphically represented by a tree that consists of nodes ( string, number, date, boolean).

Note: If necessary, you can define the node values of the charged item class at offer or charge plan level (refer to the Charged Item tab of a charge in an offer or to the Charged Item tab of a charge in a charge plan).

To set up a charged item class

  1. In the Name field of the identification area, type the unique identifier of the charged item class. For example: “Telephone Service”.

  2. If necessary, describe the charged item class in the Description field.

  3. In the tree display area, click to activate the charged item class.

  4. On the elements toolbar, click the icon relating to the node that you want to add to the charged item class.

  5. In the Name field of the identification area, type the identifier of the node. For example: “Call”.

  6. If necessary, describe the node in the Description field.

  7. In the Value field of the Definition tab, select one of the following:

Notes:

  • If you set up a boolean node with a source property, the value is converted by SAP Convergent Charging during the charging process. It converts the strings "0" and "false" and the number 0 to FALSE. It converts the strings "1" and "true" and the number 1 to TRUE. Otherwise the charging process fails because it cannot convert the source value.

  • If you use SAP Convergent Charging with an SAP ERP system and if no value is assigned to the SUBPROCESS and BITTYPE nodes, you may need to assign these nodes the values which are defined in the related billable item mapping (Refer to the note describing these values).

To change the value of a node

  1. In the tree display area of the charged item class, click a node.

  2. In the Value field of the Definition tab, type a new value or change the property.
