Specifying Reference Fields

Prerequisites

You have created a structure in the Java Dictionary.

Context

A reference field must be specified for a field with a currency amount. A field is only assigned to the reference field at program runtime. For example, if a field is filled with currency amounts, the corresponding currency is determined from the assigned reference field, that is, the value entered in this field at this moment defines the currency.

Procedure

  1. In the context menu of a structure in the Dictionary Explorer , choose Open . The structure editor opens.
  2. In the Elements screen area, choose the Add element to structure pushbutton.

    The Add Element dialog opens.

  3. Choose Browse .

    The Simple Type Selection dialog opens.

  4. Choose Start of the navigation pathDictionaries Next navigation step Local Dictionary Next navigation step com.sap.dictionary.predefined.currencyEnd of the navigation path.
  5. Select either currency or currencyNormalized.

    If you choose the currencyNormalized type, the formatting corresponds to currency specifications editing in the SAP system.

    • To create a new simple type, choose New .

  6. Choose OK , then choose Finish .
  7. Create another element of the Decimal data type.
  8. In the Reference Element field, select the name of the field defined in step 2 above.
  9. Choose Finish .
  10. To save your data, choose Save .
