Object documentationReturns Document

The returns document is the central document for the returns process. The returns document controls the return of materials from the remote plant to the base plant.

The returns document is used both as an initiating and as a controlling document for all processes both at base and remote locations that are related to the returns process.

Structure

The returns document consists of header data (return date, plant or storage location, and reference), organizational data (receiving plant or storage location), and item default references, such as cost center information and ship-to party.

Returns Processes

The configuration of subsequent document classes is split into configuration of returns processes and configuration of batch data communication (BDC) rules. This allows the definition of subsequent processes that do not post documents, and so have no need of BDC posting rules. You can define allowed processes for each recommended action step to control the execution of returns processes during the lifecycle of the returns document.

Sending Batch

The material returns item contains a sending batch field. The system validates this field against the batch master file. Consequently, the system generates an error message if the batch does not exist for the returns material at the sending plant.

Default Values for New Items

You can add material returns items to an existing returns document, using the Change returns document. When you do this, the system copies default values for receiving plant, store location, and controlling area from the last line that you entered into the work area used for new lines.

Work-List Print

A work-list print function allows you to create an output of the multiple documents included in the list.

Selection by Shipment and Voyage

A work-list selection path allows you to select returns items belonging to a shipment or loading area.

Returns Transaction Field Status

You can use the Field Status function on fields displayed in the returns document and returns work list.

Document Links

You can use the manual links created for a return document to link to any RLM object type.

Administration Data

To view administration data, you can choose the Administration tab on the returns document.

Document Changes

The document changes report allows you to select by material or container item. There is also an interface that allows you to display the changes from within a returns document or work-list.

Repeat Delivery

You can use the repeat delivery function to return material from a remote location to the base location for storage until you are prepared to receive the material. When the returned goods arrive at the base location, they can be added to a new outbound delivery and moved to a loading area.

Display Contract

You can display a contract reference for a return document to see which agreement (scheduling agreement) line is relevant for the selected return item. To do that, on the item or contract, you select F4.
