Definition of Material Catalogs

Use

You must have defined material catalogs to be able to create organizational unit-related (OU-related) and case-related material requisitions and to be able to create goods issues from a care unit storage facility.

You store the materials you are allowed to order for a particular OU in the OU-related material catalogs. You can define any number of material catalogs.

You can organize the material catalogs using criteria of your choosing. For instance, you could define different catalogs

  • For different material types

  • For the nursing OUs of different specialties

    Example

Dispensary catalog: Material catalog comprising materials for the dispensary

Kitchen catalog: Material catalog comprising materials for the kitchen

Office catalog: Material catalog comprising materials for the office

To keep maintenance to a strict minimum, you should define the material catalogs such that they can be used by several OUs.

Note

The IS-H MM: Generate Material Catalog from MARC report (RNUMKAT0) lets you generate catalog items from the material master records (table MARC) for the material catalogs you defined.

The IS-H MM: Print Material Catalogs report (RNUMKAT1) lets you print material catalogs.

You can check the consistency of material catalogs and compare them with the MM material master by using the IS-H: Check Consistency of Material Catalogs report (RNUMKAT2).

For more information about this, see the respective program documentation.

Prerequisites

You must have created the material master records for the materials you want to assign to material catalogs.

For more information about this, see Material Master Record.

Features

You identify a catalog by assigning it an 8-character key of your choosing and entering a corresponding catalog name.

You define the individual catalog items for each material catalog. Each catalog item comprises the following data:

  • Material number (Material field)

  • Plant (Plant field)

  • Order quantity (Order Quantity field)

  • Minimum order quantity (Min. field) and maximum order quantity (Max. field)

  • When processing material requisitions, you can only change the order quantity within the value range specified here.

  • Order unit (OU field)

  • Approval type (ApprvTy field)

  • Material short text (Material Short Text field)

Activities

To define a material catalog, proceed as follows:

  1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Hospital  Next navigation step  Basic Data Administration  Next navigation step  Material Requisition  Next navigation step  Catalogs  Next navigation step  Define End of the navigation path.

The Change View "Material Catalog": Overview screen appears.

  2. To create a new catalog, choose New Entries.

Enter an identification key and a name for the catalog you want to create.

There are two ways of adding catalog items to the material catalog you have just defined:

  • To enter the catalog items manually, on the Change View "Material Catalog": Overview screen, select the material catalog to which you wish to add catalog items, and then choose Catalog Items.

On the Change View: "Catalog Items" Details screen, choose New Entries and specify the data as required (at least material number, plant, order quantity and order unit).

  • The IS-H MM: Generate Material Catalog from MARC report (RNUMKAT0) enables you to assemble the catalog items from the material master records using various selection criteria and transfer them into the material catalog.

For information about this, see Generate Material Catalog Items.
