Provisions for Awards and the Accrual Engine

The functions of the Provisions for Awards component are based on the Accrual Engine tool. The processes for calculating and posting provisions are performed in the Accrual Engine.

The data required to calculate and post provisions are transferred from the SAP component Human Resources (HR) to the Provisions for Awards component. A distinction is made here between the following data:

That part of the data that is required for calculating and posting accruals is transferred to the Accrual Engine. The processes for calculating and posting accruals are made exclusively in the Accrual Engine.
That part of the data that more closely specifies you accruals remains in the Manual Accruals component. An example of this kind of data is that specifying the type of accrual (such as rent or licenses).

The Accrual Engine calculates and posts the accruals. Accrual Engine documents are generated when the accruals are posted. If you execute an accrual run to post the accruals, the Accrual Engine documents are transferred to Accounting automatically. This leads to the generation of follow-up documents in Accounting.
