Grouping Planning Elements

Use

In the supply-to-production table, at planning element level, individual planning elements are displayed for a supply segment in chronological order.

The number of planning elements in a planning horizon can be very large and therefore the supply-to-production table may become very confusing. For this reason, you can group consecutive planning elements of the same type (for example, dependent requirements or summarized JIT calls). The individual quantities of the planning elements are added together.

Note Note

As standard, planning elements can only be grouped completely – that is, it is not possible to group specific planning elements only.

The planning element created as a result of the grouping only exists on the interface and has no effect on the missing quantities calculation which is still based on the individual planning elements.

If a replenishment proposal is created in the automatic planning run which affects one of the grouped planning elements, the system ungroups the planning elements and then regroups them again.

Note that replenishment proposals cannot be grouped.

To group planning elements according to your own logic, use the Business Add-In (BAdI) S2L_GROUP_PLNG_ITEMS . You can find more information under Business Add-Ins or in the documentation for this BAdI.

Procedure

You are in the supply-to-production table (transaction S2L).

To group planning elements, choose and to ungroup the planning elements, choose .

Note Note

If you want the planning elements to be displayed in group form on accessing the supply-to-production table, you can set the Group Planning Elements indicator in the Global Settings on the Dialog tab page.

Result

Grouped planning elements appear in a row of the list of planning elements. They are indicated in the Number column by an asterisk and the number of grouped planning elements, for example */ 16 .
