Migration and Mass Change of Communication Channels

Use

You can migrate communication channels from a source system to a target system or from one PI Release to the next.

You can perform the following steps:

  • Perform a mass change for channel attributes for many channels

  • Validate properties against target adapter metadata

  • Update the metadata version

  • Select several communication channels and change their parameters together

  • Change the Adapter Engine for all selected channels

  • Change common attributes for all selected channels

  • Change values for module properties

Procedure

System Configuration

  1. To run the Integration Directory Migration Tool, use the following link in the target system: https://<host>:<port>/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tc~pi~tools~dirmig~wd/DirectoryCockpit

  2. To configure the systems you want to use as source systems and to configure renaming rules, choose Configuration.

  3. If the system you want to use is not available in the list of source systems, choose Add/Change System .

  4. Choose Create System .

  5. Enter System Name , System URL , System Secure URL , and choose Save .

Channel Migration

  1. On the Integration Directory Migration Tool start page, choose Channel Migration .

  2. Select the source system from the System Name dropdown list, from which the tool will read the communication channels to be migrated.

  3. To use secure communication, select Use Secure URL .

  4. In the User Name and Password fields, provide the user and password for the source system.

  5. In the User Name and Password fields, provide the user and password for the target system.

  6. Choose Next.

  7. Use the search filter to select communication channels from the Integration Directory of the source system.

  8. Select the channels you want to change. The table below the channel list shows the properties that are common to all selected channels.

  9. Change the channel properties and choose Apply . The changes to the channel are highlighted with a marked checkbox in the table with the channel list.

    Object Creation

  10. To proceed to Object Creation , choose Next .

  11. Choose Create . This creates a new change list in the Integration Directory of the target system, and adds the changed channels to this new change list.

    The log displays the details about the objects that are created, not created, or already exist with an OK/Error/Warning message.

  12. Choose Finish .

  13. Log in to the Integration Directory of the target system. A new change list has been created. Review all created objects and activate the change list.
