Searching for Objects

Use

You can search for objects, thereby defining and linking different selection conditions for the search help.

A detailed search function is provided for the communication channels in particular. You can search communication channels for the values of their attributes (this is described in greater detail below).

Procedure

Execute Standard Search

In the standard search you can search for your key values.

For example you can search a communication channel for the name of parties, communication components, and the name of the channel.

  1. In the main menu, choose Start of the navigation pathObject Next navigation step SearchEnd of the navigation path.

The search help is called. The standard search is the default setting.

  2. Select the object type (dropdown list box).

The key attributes of the object type are shown.

Using the input help you can select the key values you want.

Execute an Enhanced Search

In the enhanced search mode you can search for more detailed selection criteria.

  1. Repeat steps 1 to 2 above.

  2. Click Enhanced .

You can specify several selection conditions in a table.

  3. Enter the attribute in the Attribute field (for example, the Adapter Type for a communication channel).

  4. Enter the attribute value in the Value 1 and Value 2 fields (for example, the adapter type CIDX ).

Note that you can only enter a value in the input field for Value 2 if an interval operator ( BETWEEN or NOT BETWEEN ) was selected for the search condition (see next step).

  5. Enter the operator that links the search attributes (dropdown list box for the Operator field).

    Use the following operators:

    • LIKE

With this operator you can for example search for all the objects whose name contains a certain string.

    • = (equals)

    • (greater than or equal to)

    • (greater than)

    • (less than or equal to)

    • (less than)

    • BETWEEN

    • NOT BETWEEN

    • (not equal)

    • NOT LIKE

  6. You can add further selection conditions by inserting additional lines (choose Insert Line After Selection ).

Search conditions with the same attribute are automatically linked with a logical Or , and search conditions with different attributes with a logical And .

The entire selection condition resulting from the table lines is displayed in a preview below the table.

  7. To start the search, choose Search .

If you want to search communication channels for specific attribute values, proceed as follows.

  1. In the enhanced search, select the Adapter Type attribute.

  2. Choose the operator.

  3. Select the input help under Value 1 .

The Define Adapter-Specific Search Condition dialog box opens.

  4. Select the adapter type under Adapter Type .

All attributes that are defined for the selected adapter type are offered for selection in the input help under Attribute .

  5. Select an attribute.

  6. Select the value for the attribute.

You can define the search to be as complex as you want and therefore can search systematically for communication channels in the Integration Directory.
