Time-of-Use Exception Program

 

You represent demand response programs in SAP IS-U as time-of-use exception programs. Events that occur during demand response programs are referred to as time-of-use exceptions.

A time-of-use exception program (TOU exception program) groups time-of-use exceptions that belong to the same demand response program. The participation of a customer in a TOU exception program is part of the contractual agreement between the utilities company and the customer.

TOU exception programs represent the connection between conditional billing and the TOU exception.

Structure

You define TOU exception programs in Customizing and this definition has the following sections:

ID of the TOU exception program

ID of the TOU exception program

Reference to the ID that is assigned to the TOU exception program in an external system (such as a demand response system).

Validity period

You can create TOU exceptions during this period.

Ability to split TOU exceptions

Indicator that controls whether TOU exceptions that exceed the billing period are to be observed proportionally during billing.

Activation category

Logic used to activate TOU exceptions for a TOU exception program in SAP IS-U billing.
Ability to Split TOU Exceptions

If you select this indicator in Customizing for a TOU exception program, the system partially observes TOU exceptions for this TOU exception program that exceed the billing period during billing. The period for a TOU exception is then prorated, for example as a result of a price change.

If you do not select this indicator, the system does not observe TOU exceptions that exceed the billing period during billing and terminates billing. The period for the TOU exception cannot be split using proration dates in this case.

You should ensure that splitting the TOU exceptions does not contradict the logical meaning of the TOU exceptions.

Activation Category

The activation category combines the validity of TOU exceptions at the level of a TOU exception program with individual activation at contract level.

The following activation categories are possible here:

Always active

Each TOU exception is billing-relevant for all installations in the TOU exception program. No individual activation or deactivation is possible, with the exception of corrections.

Active, can be deactivated

Each TOU exception is billing-relevant for all installations in the TOU exception program. The customer can enter a negative TOU exception response (opt-out), which deactivates an individual TOU exception.

Inactive, can be activated

A TOU exception is only relevant for billing if a positive TOU exception response (opt-in) has been created for it.

Individual activation/deactivation is mandatory

Billing requires a positive or negative TOU exception response (opt-in/opt-out), which activates or deactivates the TOU exception.

Active for individual customers

A TOU exception is entered when a positive TOU exception response (opt-in) is created and is hereby activated for selected customers.

During contract billing, the system observes valid TOU exceptions in relation to the meter involved.
