Prerequisites
  • You've already onboarded your charging stations in SAP E-Mobility. For more information, see the guided tour Onboarding Charging Stations.

  • You've already validated the configuration of your charging stations. See the guided tour Validating Charging Station Configuration.

  • Make sure the web interface of your charging stations is open before starting this guided tour.

Content
  • Learn about the different authentication methods available in SAP E-Mobility, and the ones your charging station supports.

  • Learn how to change the authentication method of your charging stations.

To maintain your charging station connection security in SAP E-Mobility, open the Manage Charging Stations app.

Choose a charging station to see its details.

Choose Authorization.

Here you can find the list of authentication methods supported by the charging station, regardless of what SAP E-Mobility supports.
  • Automatic Configuration: Your charging station allows SAP E-Mobility to use a charging station token automatically after the onboarding. To renew the token, follow the manual configuration steps.

  • Manual Configuration: If you wish to use this method, you must copy the token you want to use, update your charging station OCPP URL, and reboot your charging station.

The Authentication Method displayed here is the one used by your charging station to connect to SAP E-Mobility.

Click on the drop-down list to the see the other methods that SAP E-Mobility currently supports.

SAP E-Mobility currently supports these authentication methods:
  • Onboarding Token Only: This token is used for the charging station onboarding in SAP E-Mobility. This token can be shared between charging stations of the same site area. For security reasons, it's recommended to use a more secure token. SAP E-Mobility tries to replace the onboarding token with a charging station token. When the charging station doesn't allow the update, the onboarding token is kept. In that case, if you wish to upgrade to a more secure token, you must do it manually.

  • Charging Station Token: This token is generated based on a charging station's vendor, model, and serial number. Using this token enables a priviledged and more secure connection between the charging station and SAP E-Mobility.

You can change the selected value in the Authentication Methods list. Depending on the token chosen, actions differ:

  • Onboarding Token Only: A message will guide you to the next steps.

  • Charging Station Token: The Generate button appears. Click on it to request an individual authorization for your charging station.

    • If the charging station supports the Automatic Configuration, you don't need to do anything else.

    • If not, configure your charging station software with the generated OCPP URL.

That's all you need to know!
