Do you want to determine who is allowed to charge their vehicle at which EVSEs according to their badge? By taking this tour, you will learn how to create and manage your Charging Setups in the Define Charging Authorizations app. This includes creating and maintaining Badge Groups and EVSE Groups.

Prerequisites
  • You've onboarded your charging stations and connected them to SAP E-Mobility.

  • You've created your badges.

Tip

If these prerequisites aren't met, check out the following guided tours: Onboarding Charging Stations and Creating Badges.

Ready to create a charging setup?

Open the Define Charging Authorizations app.

Choose Create.

Provide a suitable Name for your Charging Setup.

Assign your Charging Setup to a Company.

You can also enter a Description.

Choose Create.

To start configuring the charging setup you've created, choose Edit.

You first need to create a Badge Group. To do so, make sure that you're in the Badge Groups section and choose Create.

You need to make an entry in the Name field. You can also enter a Description. When you're done, choose Save.

Select the badge group you've created to add badges to it.

Choose Add.

Choose this icon to access the badge list.

Make sure that you select all badges required for this badge group and choose OK.
Note

You can select badges that belong to a different Company than your current charging setup.

Verify that all badges have been assigned to your badge group and choose Add.

Navigate back to the charging setup overview.

In the next step, you create an EVSE group. To do so, navigate to EVSE Groups.

To start creating your EVSE group, choose Edit.

Choose Create.

Give your EVSE Group a name. You can also enter a Description. If you want to allow any badge to charge at the EVSEs of this EVSE group, select Enable Charging for Any Badge. Choose Save once you're done.

Note

If you select Enable Charging for Any Badge, you will allow any badge to charge at the EVSEs of this EVSE group, even if these EVSEs are part of another EVSE group that doesn't allow any badge to charge.

Select the EVSE group you've created to assign EVSEs to it.

Choose Add.

Choose this icon to access the EVSE list.

Make sure that you select all EVSEs required for this EVSE group and choose OK.
Note

You can select EVSEs from charging stations that belong to a different Company than your current charging setup.

You've completed the configuration of your charging setup. In the next step, you can test the charging authorizations. You can check whether a badge is authorized to start a charging session at a specific EVSE.

Navigate back to the charging setup overview.

Navigate to Charging Tests.

Choose Edit.

Choose Create.

Choose the icon under the EVSE Code header to select an EVSE for your charging test. If the icon is not visible, expand the column.

Select one EVSE from the list

Choose the icon under the Badge header to select a badge for your charging test. If the icon is not visible, expand the column.

Choose one badge from the list.

If you expect your badge to be able to charge at this EVSE, select Authorized as Expected Result. If this is not the case, select Not authorized.

To save your charging test, choose Save.

If the Actual Result corresponds to your Expected Result, you see the status message Charging test passed. If this is not the case, the status message Charging test failed is displayed.

To check all of your charging authorizations, including the charging tests you've created, navigate to Validations.

To launch the validation process, choose Validate.

The Validation Messages tell you whether one or more of your charging tests failed, or whether all of your charging tests have been completed without errors. You can also for example see whether an EVSE group is not assigned to any badge group, or whether it does not have any associated EVSEs.

If all of your charging tests have been completed without errors, you can activate your charging setup. You can also activate your charging setup if the Validation Messages contain Warnings. However, if there are any Errors, you need to fix them first.

To activate your charging setup, proceed with this guided tour.

Go back to the charging setup overview.

The charging setup you want to activate should have the Status Working Copy. Select the charging setup you want to activate from the list of Charging Setups and choose Activate. By activating it, you make all charging authorizations you've defined available.
