Displaying a Business Transaction Analysis

Use

The Business Transactions Analysis (transaction STAD) calculates the system resource usage of individual transactions for ABAP systems and provides a detailed analysis of a transaction and the dialog steps. The selection criteria include user, transaction, program, task type, start date, and start time.

Procedure

  1. Call transaction ST03G to start the Global Workload Monitor.
  2. Choose Detailed Analysis → Business Transaction Analysis.
  3. The Select Statistical Records dialog screen appears. You can make the following settings here:

In the Select the display mode group box, choose one of the following output types:

    • Show all statistics records, sorted by start time

The system displays a chronological list of dialog steps with their resource usage.

    • Show all records, grouped by business transaction

The system displays a list of dialog steps with their resource usage, grouped by transactions. The list contains the individual dialog steps of a transaction.

    • Show business transaction sums

In addition to Show all records, grouped by business transaction, the system also displays a list with totals of workload data. This variant is used most frequently.

In the Tools group box, choose one of the following commands:

    • Include statistics from memory

The statistics data is buffered first, before it is read into the STAD file. This option forces the buffer to write the data to a file before the analysis is performed. This ensures that you can analyze all transactions.

    • Include application statistics

Choose this check box to display application statistics in addition.

    • Server selection

This pushbutton restricts the analysis to certain instances in the system. Select the desired instances.

    • Additional options

You can set the wait time for the Remote Function Call (RFC), maximum runtime of the analysis, and the time period to be used for the analysis.
