Configuring the Display of Statistics Data from Remote Systems
Use
This procedure describes the configuration steps required to display ABAP statistics data and Distributed Statistics Records (DSRs) in the global workload monitor of the central monitoring system (CEN) from systems that are stored in a remote ABAP system. This is the case in both of the following situations:
- ABAP statistics aggregates are always stored in the ABAP system in which this data is created.
- Aggregates of the DSRs are always stored in an ABAP system. If the system of the instance that is writing DSRs has as ABAP stack, this is the local system of the DSR component itself. You can also display this data centrally in the global workload monitor of CEN. The prerequisite for this is, however, that the transfer of the DSRs to the local ABAP stack has been configured; the steps required for this are described in Configuring the Display of DSRs of the Local System.
Prerequisites
There must be an RFC connection between the CEN and the ABAP system in which the statistics data is stored. We recommend that you register the relevant ABAP system as a monitored system in CEN (see SAP NetWeaver Components and Hosts in CEN); when you do so, the RFC destination <SysID>_RZ20_COLLECTwith the user CSMREG is created. This connection has all of the required properties.
Note that to collect statistical data in an ABAP system, you need to have scheduled the job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR locally.
Procedure
- Call transaction ST03G in CEN.
- In the navigation bar, expand the subtree
Settings & Log, and choose the
System Selection entry by double-clicking it. - Display the system list to which you want to add the desired system by choosing Systems → <desired list>(more information: Displaying ABAP Statistics Records from Remote Systems and DSRs).
- Add an additional row to this list by choosing the
(Append Row) button. - If you want to display ABAP statistics data from a remote system in CEN, enter the following data in this row:
Column
Entry
Activated
Check the checkbox (together with those of the other components that you want to monitor)
Component Name
Name under which the monitored system is displayed; enter <SysID> or <SYSID> on <Host>
Component Type
SAP R/3
Monitoring System
System ID of CEN
Mon.Sys. Destination
RFC destination of the monitored ABAP system; use the destination that you created when registering the ABAP system with CEN (<SysID>_RZ20_COLLECT).
- If you want to display DSR aggregates from a DSR component that are stored in a remote ABAP system, enter the following data in this row:
Column
Entry
Activated
Check the checkbox (together with those of the other components that you want to monitor)
Component Name:
Name under which the monitored system is displayed.
Since you need to follow a particular naming convention when entering this name, the best way to determine the name is to log on to the ABAP system in which the DSR aggregates are stored. Start ST03G there too, and in the same way as above, choose
System Selection and Systems → Local. The desired component is displayed in this list.Transfer the name and type of the component (see below).
Component Type
Component type as specified above
Monitoring System
System ID of the ABAP system in which the DSR aggregates are stored.
Mon.Sys. Destination
RFC destination of the ABAP system in which the DSR aggregates are stored; use the destination that you created when registering the ABAP system with CEN (<SysID>_RZ20_COLLECT).
- Choose the Apply button.
- To save this list of monitored components in one of the five specified storage locations, choose
(Save) → <desired list>, and specify a name.
Checking the Entries (Optional)
- To view the statistical data for one of the activated components, expand the path
Workload →
<component name> in the navigation bar.
