Replicating DataSources for ODP Source Systems

You can either create DataSources for ODP source systems manually or by replicating the ODP metadata from the source. You can also update existing DataSources by using replication.

Replicating the Application Component Hierarchy of a Source System

Choose Replicate Tree Metadata in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the DataSource tree through the root node context menu.

Replicating the Entire Metadata (Application Component Hierarchy and DataSources) of a Source System

You have the following options:

In the source system context menu, choose Replicate DataSources in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the source system tree.

or
In the root node system context menu, choose Replicate DataSources in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the DataSource tree.

Replicating Metadata (DataSources and Application Components) of an Application Component

In the application component context menu, choose Replicate Metadata in the Data Warehousing Workbench in the DataSource tree.

Replicating a DataSource of a Source System

We recommend the following options:

For DataSources that already exist in the BW: Open the context menu for the DataSource in the DataSource tree in Data Warehousing Workbench and choose Replicate Metadata.
For DataSources that do not exist yet in the BW: Create the DataSource in the BW. For further information, see Creating DataSources for ODP Source Systems.

Configuring Replication Settings

If you execute the replication on source system level or application component level, you can use a dialog box to make various settings that influence the replication process. These allow you to define which DataSources are replicated, thus speeding up the replication process.

Under Scope, you can specify whether known DataSources in BW should be updated, and/or whether unknown DataSources in BW should be created in BW.
For DataSources to be created, you can either let the system suggest a DataSource name or you can enter a name manually.
Under Deletion, you can define whether DataSources that do not exist any more in the source system should be created in the BW system.
Note The DataSource is needed for other objects, such as transformation or the DTP, and can contain loaded data in the PSA. Therefore, make sure that the DataSources, which are selected using this setting, really need to be deleted.
Under Activation, you can specify if and how DataSources should be reactivated, which were already activated prior to replication.
Note Replication changes the modified version of the DataSource - in line with the current ODP metadata of the source. Using this setting, make sure that the active version of the DataSource is supplied with the changes.

In the next dialog box, all DataSources are displayed with a flag that are intended for the replication according to the settings that were previously made. The system indicates whether the DataSource is created, updated or deleted during replication.

In this dialog box, you can use Selection to specify which DataSources are replicated. If, for example, only one or a small number of DataSources need to be created, then these can be selected here. You can also define the names of DataSources that are created during replication or change the automatically suggested name.
