Running a Where-Used List

You can use the where-used list in master data editing to view the usage of individual master data records in InfoProviders and in other master data.

Context

All usages are display and navigation attributes are recorded. This includes usage in active hierarchies, and master data records that are in near-line storage. Usages are also found in objects that do not have SIDs. On the other hand, a where-used list performed when deleting master data only finds usages in objects that have SIDs.

Procedure

  1. You are in master data editing. Select the master data records that you would like to run the where-used list for.
  2. By choosing Where-Used, you can start the where-used list. In the dropdown box, you can specify whether the process should run in the dialog or in the background. We recommend running the process in the background if there is a significant amount of data or number of dependent objects. No locks are set while the process is running.
  3. By choosing Start of the navigation pathApplication Log Next navigation step Open Where-Used LogEnd of the navigation path you can view the result of the where-used list. The object for the where-used list is called RSDMD. The subobject is called MD_UC.
  4. In the Details column in the Application Log, you can view which objects records are used in.
