A Note on the Use of Cash-Basis Accounting To ensure that the Cash-Basis Accounting ( CBA ) model works as described and illustrated in this documentation, the following important prerequisite must be fulfilled:
All kinds of transfer postings (primarily the transfers between the bank clearing accounts or business partners) must always include clearing of the corresponding open items on these accounts.
This restriction is necessary in order to ensure the proper inheritance of the causing expense/revenue accounts (RE_ACCOUNT) into the cash line item through the whole process chain. In other words, the cash cannot subsequently be reassigned to the real expense/revenue accounts unless one last clearing is executed to close one process chain.
In order to prevent transfer postings taking place without clearing, a special check has been implemented into the system. For technical reasons, however, it is impossible to prevent all kinds of such transfers. If, in spite of the preventive measures, a transfer posting without clearing has been included into the CBA -relevant process chain, reverse the corresponding document and create a new one with clearing of the open items involved.
