Variant Configuration
You can use variant configuration in the advanced modeling of product structures. You use variant configuration to correctly maintain a configurable product structure by doing the following:
Define the variant class (class type 300).
Define and assign characteristics.
Create a configuration profile.
Define object dependencies.
For more information, see Variant Configuration (LO-VC).
Variant Configuration is integrated with the Web user interface (Web UI) of SAP Product Lifecycle Management (SAP PLM) in the areas of product structures and classic BOMs.
You can access the following variant configuration functions in product structures:
Characteristic value assignment
You use the Characteristic Value Assignment
screen to maintain the configuration data for simulations. For more information, see Characteristic
Value Assignment.
Dependency maintenance table
You use the dependency maintenance table to maintain local selection conditions for a product item variant. For more information, see Object Dependencies and Dependency Maintenance Table.
