SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9.0 contains new features and enhancements. These updates are summarized in the following notes. For more information, see the relevant sections of the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author 9.0 application help.

Single file format (VDS) for authoring and consumption (New)

One file format for authoring and delivery. Authoring is stored in VDS and delivered to all platforms as VDS

Omni-Channel Authoring (Enhanced)

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author’s standard UI layout is configured for Omni-channel authoring. All authoring features will function the same on all platforms and viewers.

VDS is the default file format for authoring (RH format available for import and export).

Authoring Change Management (Enhanced)

Change Management has been enhanced to simplify the authoring process. SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author now offers tools to update authoring in response to a change.

Visualizations of Variant Configuration (Enhanced)

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author has been enhanced. Enhancements are as follows:

  • Authoring one viewable for multiple product configurations

  • Add filtering logic using metadata

  • Filter at consumption time to display the desired configuration

  • Simple approach for adding 3D to product and sales configurators

  • Deliver the result as VDSL in UI5 or Active X viewers

Multi-Language Authoring (New)

SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author enables localization of VDS files

Snap Tool (Enhanced)

The Snap Tool has a redesigned user interface and improved performance. It allows you to position a specific object (Source) precisely in relation to another object (Target) and snap them together.

Select Objects Window(Enhanced)

The Select Objects window has been enhanced. UI has been optimized and extra functionality added as follows:

  • Redesign of existing tabs Name and Metadata

  • Options Search by Layer Name and Search by Material Name added to Name tab
  • All metadata related search fields moved to the Metadata tab
  • Merged Size, Polygon Count, and Vertex Count into a single tab

Plug-Ins and Formats (Enhanced)

The following plug-ins and formats were updated:

  • AutoCAD file formats: AutoCAD 2015 Architectural Edition is now supported.

CAD (Enhanced)

The CAD importers were updated as follows:

  • CAD updates with bug fixes

  • CAD Identifiers (New)

    • VE Identifiers added for the following formats: CATIA V5 part and assembly, NX part and assembly, SolidWorks part and assembly, Solid Edge part and assembly

  • IFC format support (New)

  • 3DXML format support (New)

  • CREO Parametric View support for SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Author (New)

  • CAD format enhancements

  • Solid Edge file format:

    • Import option optimized

    • Import of group nodes added

    • Import of occurrence properties added

    • Import of custom occurrence properties added

    • Properties now categorized as in native software

    • Import display configuration support added

  • SolidWorks file format assembly and part:

    • PMI text enhanced

  • NX file format (Enhanced): Import option default optimized

  • Creo Neutral file format: Import option optimized for Import Model Views

  • CATIA V5 file format: Import option default optimized
