Method GET_PARENT() returns the instance of the immediate predecessor in the block hierarchy (parent node).

Method GET_PARENTS() identifies all parent blocks up to the top node of the hierarchy, and puts them in attribute AT_LOG_PARENTS_BLOCKS for further processing. This is a table of instances of type IF_ECATT_API_LOG_LINE.
